How it works

Anything in the dictionary counts. There is no wrong first move, and nothing to lose by trying.

See which side it falls on

Your word lands earlier or later than the secret one, alphabetically. The wall on that side moves in.

Close the gap

Keep narrowing until only one word can be left standing between the walls. Then it is yours.

How long does a round take?
About two minutes for the daily word. Endless runs as long as you want it to.
Which languages?
Italian and English today, each with its own dictionary — a word is never a translation of another language's word. French, German, Portuguese and Spanish are being prepared.
Is there a timer?
Never. Nothing counts down, nothing expires mid-round, and you cannot lose the daily word.
Where do the words come from?
From open lexical sources, published with attribution under their original licences. AI arranges and illustrates that material; it never invents a definition or a quotation.
